Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 The Education Department has agreed to look at artifacts at two time points' beginning of program and end of program. They have selected key courses where similar artifacts are expected at an entry level across the program and the same at the end of the program. As part of the assessment process, the faculty will evaluate the impact of instruction by using the results of the rubrics derived from the teacher professional standards. They will then explore student work and identify patterns for redesigning assignments and expectations as needed for coherence, rigor, and effectice delivery of evidenced-based practices during the practicum experience.
Goal #2 The department will review alignment of the teacher performance standards and ensure coherence of content and evidenced-based practices towards the practicum semester across currently approved initial licensure programs.
Goal #3 The Education Department will launch the professional licensure program approved by the state in partnership with school districts in the area.

Annual Goals - 2014
Goal #1 Increase number of candidates in urban settings for pre-practicum and practicum by 10%.
Goal #2 Identify at least one partner for professional licensure programs.
Goal #3 Integrate strategies for using instructional technology and meeting needs of learners with disabilities into all undergraduate ED courses.

Progress Toward Goals - 2014
Goal #1 This year the Lasell Educatio program placed 5 students in 3 new sites in Boston Public Schools in a variety of schools including a dual language program, and inclusive school, and a traditional school. We met the 10% increase in candidates in urban settings.
Goal #2 This year the Lasell Education Department has solidify two partnerships to launch the professional licensure program. One partnership is with Marlborough Public Schools (MPS) who has partnered to bring MPS teacher the hybrid professional courses to their district. The second partnership with the Boston Public Schools is in development and awaiting a contract to deliver the professiona licensure option for at least 15 teachers in the district starting this 2015-2016 school year. Goal 2 has been met.
Goal #3 This year we have shared our interest with the state to adopt TeachLive and will be submitting an application. In addition, Lasell College will be adopting an online portfolio system that will pilot the Education Department teacher candidates next school year. The candidate will have access to iPads to video their lessons and provide peer feedback during the pre-practicum and practicum semester facilitated by a faculty member.

Annual Goals - 2013
Goal #1 Identify at least one urban school partner for undergraduate pre-practicum placements.
Goal #2 Identify at least one partner district for post-baccalaureate programs, both initial and professional.
Goal #3 Collaborate with arts & sciences faculty to review and revise required licensure courses in math, science, and history to better align with subject matter knowledge.

Progress Toward Goals - 2013

Goal #2 Due to a search for a new chair, this process slowed. The new chair will begin in August 2014 and has this goal as one of her priorities.
