Goal #2 |
Continue to develop student, faculty and constituent knowledge of effective instruction of English language learners. |
Goal #3 |

Progress Toward Goals - 2014 |
|
Progress made toward prior program year goals |
Goal #1 |
We continued to offer MTEL workshops for Foundations of Reading, General Curriculum subtests, and Early Childhood Test free of charge to matriculated students. In addition to Education courses, several key LA&S course objectives were aligned to MTEL objectives. On the Early Childhood test, we have decreased the gap between the average pass rates of our students and the state average pass rate from 13% to 7%. On the Foundations of Reading, our average pass rate is 5% lower than the state average pass rate. The other content MTEL average pass rates for our students, in all cases, decreased. We continue to monitor these patterns and look for ways to address the needs of students in order to improve our average pass rates. |
Goal #2 |
We installed the SEI course across all initial license programs on campus and with extended campus partners. Our TESEL grant continues to provide training and professional development for faculty and constituents in best practices for high quality classrooms with diverse learners. |
Goal #3 |
Extended campus partners attend Unit Meetings where collected data is reviewed and analyzed. Program chairs meet with partners to discuss and plan for program needs. |
Annual Goals - 2013 |
|
Educator preparation program improvement goals from the prior year |
Goal #1 |
Increase passage rates for Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure content tests. |
Goal #2 |
Identify at-risk candidates and provide a retention program that includes MTEL preparation. |
Goal #3 |
Include Extended Campus more extensively in Unit data collection and analysis. |
Progress Toward Goals - 2013 |
|
Progress made toward prior program year goals |
Goal #1 |
MTEL workshops for Foundations of Reading, General Curriculum subtests, and Early Childhood Test offered free of charge to matriculated students both fall and spring semesters. Passage deadlines established to encourage early preparation. Several courses aligned objectives to MTEL objectives. |
Goal #2 |
Faculty advisors receive data that identifies at-risk students at the beginning and mid-point of the semester to coincide with the advising period. A letter was mailed to each student letting them know a deficient grade has been reported, along with instructions on how to access their mid-semester grades online. Resident students receive a letter on-campus with a copy to their home address. |
Goal #3 |
Key Extended Campus partners invited to attend all Unit meetings which included data review and analysis. Individual program chairs consulted with Extended Campus partners to evaluate strengths and challenges of the programs. |
