Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 Further development of partnerships in order to define, formalize and systematize relationships with school districts and collaboratives.
Goal #2 Utilize new Massachusetts SMK and PST standards to ensure curricular alignment, candidate development and create opportunities for program development.
Goal #3 Continue to build on more internal and external data collection systems to enhance program analysis, candidate readiness and district/institutional partnerships.

Annual Goals - 2014
Goal #1 Make changes to undergraduate SPED curriculum to increase knowledge, currency and skills of undergraduate SPED candidates. These changes will be based on faculty member's sabbatical findings
Goal #2 Investigate the use of hybrid and or blended learning model for use in the MED program.
Goal #3 Continue to build more internal data collection systems to enhance analysis of program effectiveness, student satisfaction and academic trends.

Progress Toward Goals - 2014
Goal #1 Results of UG faculty sabbatical prompted additions to foundational courses and development of credit bearing institutes to further enhance candidate knowledge and skills in area of assessment, AT, AUG.Tech. FT faculty member just hired with expertise in SPED.
Goal #2 MED program implemented hybrid delivery in F14 after training faculty on using technology to enhance learning outcomes and course design. Evaluation of hybrid method will be conducted periodically to determine effectiveness.
Goal #3 Developed data collection systems in UG program application and MED Field Placement. Piloting the use of Qualtrics surveys to collect data from candidates, program supervisors, principals and supervising practitioners.All approaches being implemented to further data collection and analysis to influence programmatic effectiveness.

Annual Goals - 2013
Goal #1 Continue to develop and refine SEI courses. Continue to focus on field experiences that provide students with multiple opportunities to work with English Language Learners in their fieldwork.
Goal #2 Continue to explore and update coursework to further include Instructional Design & Using Assistive Technology in different content area & classroom environments.
Goal #3 Undergraduate and post-graduate programs are reviewing programs with a specific focus on Sheltered English Instruction, the Common Core, PARCC and other assessments.

Progress Toward Goals - 2013
Goal #1 Changed expectations and requirements to incorporate and better reflect SEI standards. Field placements ensure SEI requirements are being met. Running SEI courses and will make adjustments as needed.
Goal #2 Added opportunities for students to utilize IPAD technology to investigate and apply programs to teaching and curricular development.
Goal #3 Both UG & PG programs are undergoing review and revision of curriculum based on internal findings and conversations with school districts.
