Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 The Teacher Education Program will improve hiring pipelines with local high-need districts and schools.
Goal #2 The Teacher Education Program will establish structures to better support supervising practitioners and program supervisors in their roles.
Goal #3 The Teacher Education Program will align each of its programs to the new Professional Standards for Teacher with input from faculty, partners, and candidates.

Annual Goals - 2014
Goal #1 By August 2014, there will be an increase in racial and ethnic diversity in the Teacher Education Program.
Goal #2 During the 2013-2014 academic year, the Teacher Education Program will improve the way it tracks outcomes for its graduates and will use the data to inform next steps.
Goal #3 During the 2013-2014 academic year, students in the Teacher Education Program will be prepared to meet the needs of English Language Learners in their classrooms.

Progress Toward Goals - 2014
Goal #1 During the 2013-2014 academic year, 19 students were accepted into the program. Of those 29, 78 percent were white, 16 percent were Hispanic/Latino of any race, 5 percent were two or more races, and 5 percent chose not to disclose. The racial and ethnic diversity in the program is increasing, albeit gradually, and more focused recruitment of diverse candidates will continue.
Goal #2 During the 2013-2014 academic year, the Teacher Education Program hired an intern to design and administer a survey to all TEP alumni (Classes of 1997-2013.) In addition, an alumni database was created to update information and enable us to contact alumni in more targeted ways.
Goal #3 A new course, 'English Language Learners,' was developed, approved by the state, and approved by curriculum committee. As of July 2014, all TEP students are required to take that course.

Annual Goals - 2013
Goal #1 By August 2014, there will be an increase in racial and ethnic diversity in the Teacher Education Program.
Goal #2 By September 2013, we will review the field-based experiences of TEP students to identify placements that will both support and inform that coursework in a cohesive manner.
Goal #3 By August 2014, we will have at least one TEP student enrolled in the new Chinese 5-12 program.

Progress Toward Goals - 2013
Goal #1 The racial and ethnic diversity in the Teacher Education Program is beginning to increase, although that shift is not reflected in the numbers reported this year.
Goal #2 In July 2013, the members of the Education Department participated in a one-day workshop to revisit the educational objectives of field-based experiences embedded in various content courses with a special focus on how these serve the needs of the course and simultaneously the requirements of the TEP.
Goal #3 There has not yet been an applicant to the TEP for the Chinese 5-12 program. However, information about this new program is being shared with Chinese majors.
