Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 To increase the pass rate for general curriculum math sub-test for program completers to 80%
Goal #2 To increase the pass rate for Foundations of Literacy for students completing non-clinical courses to 80%
Goal #3 To have all students pass all sections of the MTEL before graduation.

Annual Goals - 2014
Goal #1 To increase the pass rate for General Curriculum Math for program completers to 80%
Goal #2 To increase the pass rate for Foundations of Literacy for the students completing non-clinical courses to 80%
Goal #3 To increase the number of accepted juniors in the early childhood licensure program by three to five students.

Progress Toward Goals - 2014
Goal #1 Becker has instituted a one credit course to prepare students for passing the General Curriculum Math for program completers
Goal #2 Students are spending more time in a first grade classroom observing teachers who are teaching children to read.
Goal #3 Students who cannot pass the Communications and Literacy test are given more opportunities for tutoring. This test is a requirement for acceptance into the licensure program.

Progress Toward Goals - 2013
Goal #1 We updated the text in our math course to align with the MTEL exam and there was more coordination between the math instructor and the dept. We have also provided tutoring. We did not reach the 80% and we are continually make improvements in the program to help students with the exam
Goal #2 Students were given more pre-practicum experiences in the early grades to provide more practical experience around phonics. We increased the number of MTEL preparation workshops.
Goal #3 We are working with students to meet the requirements for acceptance into licensure. We are encouraging them to attend the MTEL workshops and to take the test earlier in their college career.
