Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2015
Goal #1 To work with the leadership at Simmons (our MAT coursework partner) to improve connections between the courses in our program.
Goal #2 To work with the leadership at Simmons to evaluate and potentially redesign the course sequence of our program.
Goal #3 To create and implement a bi-annual survey of our Fellowship alumni to better track and communicate with our graduates.

Annual Goals - 2014
Goal #1 Spend more time comparing/contrasting our practicum experiences with other schools in Boston.
Goal #2 Formalize the process by which mentors learn to become more effective mentors.
Goal #3 Return to the seminar text list and revise it again.

Progress Toward Goals - 2014
Goal #1 The new Director of Certification has visited Match Teacher Residency and has had conversations with various colleagues in other educator preparation programs about how they run their practicums.
Goal #2 The new Director of Certification implemented a new, year-long professional development program for the mentor teachers, who report it being extremely useful.
Goal #3 The new Director of Certification revised the entire Seminar scope and sequence, making several changes to the reading list.

Annual Goals - 2013
Goal #1 Spend more time comparing/contrasting our practicum experiences with other schools in Boston.
Goal #2 Formalize the process and pacing by which mentor teachers teach Fellows how to design curriculum.
Goal #3 Reexamine the syllabus to possibly replace one of the texts for Seminar.

Progress Toward Goals - 2013
Goal #1 We haven't made progress on this goal.
Goal #2 We have strict rules now on when students are allowed to use previous materials. For at least two and a half weeks, students need to design every material themselves. This has proven very helpful in pushing students to become independent.
Goal #3 One of our central Seminar texts overlaps with one of the MAT core course texts - The Skillful Teacher. We need to negotiate use of this text to make our students' time more efficiently spent.
