Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2014
Goal #1 Continue to focus on data collection from PK/12 school partners to use for program improvement. Increase the response rate on surveys to collect feedback on student performance in practicum settings. Develop a tool to use with building administrators to glean information on program effectiveness.
Goal #2 Formalize PK/12 advisory board to explore mutual goals for the 2014/15 school year. Timeline is as follows: September:

Annual Goals - 2013
Goal #1 Plan/implement a new course (English Language Learners) to support pre-service teachers to know responsibilities and methodologies for teaching ELL Students in their classrooms. Timeline is as follows: June: Syllabus submitted to DESE for approval September: Coursework begins November: Key faculty meet to design/plan measures of impact/effectiveness December: Students give feedback on effectiveness of course via course evaluations/survey instrument. January- March: Key faculty meet to review feedback and plan steps to address needs as identified. Identify ways to assess efficacy of course and impact on pre-service teachers in PK/12 classrooms.
Goal #2 Build on partnerships with PK/12 schools and districts by establishing an advisory board to explore mutual goals for the 2013/14 school year. Timeline is as follows: June: Identify members and contact for interest. September: Initial meeting to identify areas of interest, establish goals and a plan of action. January: Working meeting to review plan and progress

Progress Toward Goals - 2013
Goal #1 Syllabus has been submitted and approved. Students are in the second semester of it being implemented. Course evaluations and survey provided important feedback on content and readings. Key faculty have met to examine the sequence and clarity of readings and assignments. Meetings with clinical faculty have further examined the course connection with practicum placements.
Goal #2 Connections have been made with partner districts to enhance PK/12programming particularly in the area of math. Survey tool was developed to glean formal feedback from practicum cooperating practitioners.
