Annual Goals
This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Goal #1 |
Implementation of the new BFA in Art Education concentration that includes rethinking admission procedures and requirements. This implementation includes the phasing out the 'integrated' system until cohort of 2017. |
Goal #2 |
Expansion of the Art Ed program. The College employs more Admission counselors than before reaching out to greater territories. We intend to take advantage of this to advertise the new BFA in Art Education. We will also market using the web, print advertisement and overall increase the visibility of the program. |
Goal #3 |
Continued development and refinement of course content addressing ELL needs. Reading, discussion, exercises and lectures on the subject have been incorporated to three courses. We are also adding Common Core content to two Junior and Senior level courses. The Special Education course will augment the number of hours students do in pre-practicum through fieldwork requirement. |

Goal #1 |
The program in art education will become a distinct concentration (BFA with a concentration in Art Education) with the ability to add courses to its program and solving other issues as currently the program is taken as second concentration alongside an artistic one. Application to NASAD for accreditation will take place in 09/2013 for implementation in 2014. The implementation of this concentration will improve retention because the practicum will now be within the BFA 132 credits program and students will remain eligible for financial aid. |

Planning the addition of a full 3 credit course in Art Education for the instruction of Students with Special Needs as well as creating a course with content in Art, Visual Culture and Diversity in Education that will include content in ELL instruction. Will be offered for 2014 as soon as we receive NEASC and NASAD approval. |
Goal #3 |
Expansion of territory for students seeking practicum placement. Additional Support is offered with finding placement in more culturally diverse regions of the state with the intent to increase knowledge and practice with ELL populations. |

Goal #1 |
The BFA with concentration in Art Education was approved by NASAD in November 13. We are piloting the first round beginning Fall 2014 while also offering the former track for students already in the program or wanting to remain in a Studio concentration with Art Education as a second area. |
Goal #2 |
The course Teaching Students with Special Needs as well as Art, Visual Culture and Diversity courses have been accepted by the institutional committees and voted on by faculty in Spring 2013. The Special Education course will be offered in Spring 2014 and available to students of sophomore, junior or senior levels. The search for an instructor is underway. As for the Visual Culture and Diversity course, we will wait to see changes in our enrollment before formally introducing it. For now we have a Diversity in the US course offered through Liberal Arts that satisfy the requirement and is open to all BFA students. |
Goal #3 |
This is an ongoing project and we'll expand to a wider network of school districts in 2014 and beyond. For Fall 2014 successful placement inquiries were made as far as Jamaica Plain and Roxbury in the Boston area, North and West to Lawrence and Lowell areas. We were able to find schools with greater diversity population and placed students in Revere and Salem. This goal was a success and I will continue to expand our network. |
