Educator preparation program improvement goals from the prior year |
Goal #1 |
Implement the new ELL curriculum and Methods course (ES320/520) during the Fall 2013 semester. At the end of the semester, students who took the course will receive a survey to gather feedback on the quality and usefulness of the ES320/520 course, the field experience component, and any changes they would suggest for the next offering of it. |
Goal #2 |
Establish a Teacher Education Advisory Committee, providing input regarding the Eastern Nazarene College teacher education program. This committee will focus on strengths, weaknesses and areas for improvement. The first meeting will be held in June 2013, followed by a meeting in October 2013, March 2014 and June 2014. Minutes will be kept for each meeting and data gathered will be used for program improvement. |
Progress Toward Goals - 2013 |
|
Progress made toward prior program year goals |
Goal #1 |
The course ES320/520 was implemented during the Fall 2013 semester. Two surveys were conducted for the course, one at the end of September 2013 and one at the conclusion of the course at the end of the semester. Results from each survey were shared with the instructor and adjustments were made and will be made on the delivery of the course moving forward. The focus of the adjustments will be on working toward providing students the skills necessary to support and teach ELL students in their classes. |
Goal #2 |
The Teacher Education Advisory Committee met twice during the 2012-2013 academic year, with a third meeting planned for Spring 2014. Areas of focus that were discussed were the pre-practicum and practicum field experiences. Some updates were made to the Handbooks for each of the experiences. Additional discussions focused on thinking about the work of teachers addressing the Common Core and 21st Century Skills and how that is working for student teachers during their experiences. |
