How is our school doing overall? |
Accountability and assistance levels |
Our school |
| Not meeting gap narrowing goals |
Our district |
| One or more schools in the district classified into Level 3 |
Most schools are assigned a level from 1-5, with those meeting their proficiency gap-narrowing goals in Level 1 and the lowest performing in Levels 4 and 5.
A district is typically assigned a level based on the level of its lowest performing school. Placing schools and districts into levels helps districts know which schools need more support,
and helps the state know which districts need the most assistance.

What else should you know about our school? |
The mission of the Brookside Elementary School is to provide a safe, nurturing and enriching school environment that will instill success: socially, emotionally and academically. We believe we must develop and inspire every child the desire to reach his or her fullest potential. We must educate the entire child and promote life-long learning. Our staff is committed to maintain high levels of expectations and rigorous curricula. In doing so, we at Brookside provide opportunities for all students to become reflective, thoughtful and responsible members of the greater school community. Teachers and staff strive each day to differentiate their instruction in order to meet the needs of their diverse learners through the use of programs such as Math Expressions and sound teaching practices like Reader's and Writer's Workshop. Teachers work collaboratively to review assessment data and use such data to guide their instruction.
Professional development is ongoing throughout the district and at staff meetings to maintain current best practice and teaching strategies that challenge students and meet the individual needs of our entire student population. The Brookside faculty is also working to implement a Response to Intervention (RTI) model in order to better meet the needs of our students. Teachers and staff set goals for students and with the support of paraprofessionals and Title I staff, they work collaboratively to utilize flexible grouping and data collection techniques in order to ensure student success.
The entire Brookside community, including faculty, parents, School Council, members of our PTO, Foster Parent volunteers, and many community members are dedicated to the education and well being of all our students at Brookside through their teaching, time and ongoing support.
