Partnership Description:
The School of Education has a long history of working with local school districts that range from large urban districts to smaller suburban districts. In the last several years, partnerships have expanded and new ones have been established yielding more varied educational settings where candidates observe and complete field and clinical experiences in designated schools where experienced teachers help them to implement state frameworks, address national initiatives, prepare their students for high stakes tests and serve as exemplary models and mentors of best practices.

In the UTeach program, five partner districts provide mentors to guide teaching candidates as they teach science and math classes throughout their coursework.

Methods courses in the initial licensure programs have school based experiences in partner schools which include participating in tutoring and small group instruction in elementary history, math, science and reading.

The Administrative Leadership program is heavily field based and is overseen by faculty and Leadership Fellows drawn from partner districts. The Fellows are principals and superintendents and provide feedback on the preparation of candidates for the demands of the principalship.

The Graduate School of Education has a Clinical Advisory Board comprised of teachers and administrators in partnership schools who represent each of the program areas and inform the policies and practices of both the field and clinical experiences by providing input on their design, delivery and evaluation.
