Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2020
Goal #1 The middle/secondary program will be eliminated at the undergraduate level in order for students to concentrate on their content area and then move to the master's program to obtain licensure.
Goal #2 Redesigned literature course to integrate the teaching of fluency and comprehension within it. This model gives additional practice for students to expand their skills and assessment for teaching fluency and comprehension.
Goal #3 Using the Data Wise process faculty will explore more deeply how to explain, teach, and hone skills for "adjustment to practice" required by the Candidate Assessment Performance (CAP)

Annual Goals - 2019
Goal #1 To expand special education concentration to a minor. We are reviewing departmental course options for meeting subject matter knowledge with a plan to include additional course work.
Goal #2 To identify and implement gateway assessments.
Goal #3 Expand pre-practicum observations in the graduate program.

Annual Goals - 2018
Goal #1 Identify appropraite evidence for high expectations in the CAP and develop strategies for a model of feedback for this element
Goal #2 Remove the second major as a requirement for early childhood and elementary. With this program change, the department is reviewing all courses in elementary and early childhood programs of study to align courses chosen to meet the SMK and MA Curriculum Framework requirements.
Goal #3 Deepen partnerships in districts that were previously made which now have new leadership.
