Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2021
Goal #1 Develop Shalom course for Education majors that will begin the process of working towards intercultural competency and cultural proficiency. It will increase awareness, skills, demographics of schools where our students learn to become teachers. Also audit our education programs to identify where cultural proficiency can be enhanced and where it is already done in order to improve our desire to become more culturally aware so we can meet the needs of our teacher candidates and they can meet the needs of their students,
Goal #2 Develop and implement a second 3 credit graduate course, EDU 616 for supervising practitioners who already took the first course. This course continues to develop supervising practitioners as mentors for our teacher candidates and deepens their practice of supervising.
Goal #3 Structure and scaffold the Student Feedback survey to enhance reflection and CAP elements.

Annual Goals - 2020
Goal #1 The middle/secondary program will be eliminated at the undergraduate level in order for students to concentrate on their content area and then move to the master's program to obtain licensure.
Goal #2 Redesigned literature course to integrate the teaching of fluency and comprehension within it. This model gives additional practice for students to expand their skills and assessment for teaching fluency and comprehension.
Goal #3 Using the Data Wise process faculty will explore more deeply how to explain, teach, and hone skills for "adjustment to practice" required by the Candidate Assessment Performance (CAP)

Annual Goals - 2019
Goal #1 To expand special education concentration to a minor. We are reviewing departmental course options for meeting subject matter knowledge with a plan to include additional course work.
Goal #2 To identify and implement gateway assessments.
Goal #3 Expand pre-practicum observations in the graduate program.
