| What else should you know about our school? |
| FHS is a dynamic, diverse, and highly recognized high school. The school supports high school transition by utilizing freshmen teaching teams including the School-Within-a-School, STEM Academy, + Honors Academy. The Honors Academy is a 4 year program that culminates with multiple AP + Dual Enrollment courses in a partnership with Fitchburg State University. The partnership, or "compact," then provides students the opportunity for an annual $2,000 scholarship at FSU. FHS has also been recognized in the Washington Post's Most Challenging High School list for three consecutive school years - 2014, 2015, and 2016. Furthermore, the school has also been named to the College Board's AP Honor Roll in 2015 and 2016. FHS additionally partners with Mount Wachusett CC for the federal GEAR UP program which provides college counseling, support with the application process, and assistance with the process for financing college. The school is technologically rich in that students are exposed to a nearly 1:1 computer-to-student learning environment. FHS has full programming for students with special needs in addition to a school-wide Academic Success Center available to all students to support academic improvement. There is a 6 teacher English as a Second Language teaching team and a safe environment supported by a School Resources Officer and numerous paraprofessionals. The athletic and extra-curricular program includes 28 athletic teams and over forty clubs/activities which provide a program that is rich, diverse, and supportive of student interests, skills, and talents. |
