Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2018
Goal #1 Reach-To-Teach program: Accept/enroll 6 students of color into teacher education programs.
Goal #2 Continue to expand the full-year clinical experience to secondary programs
Goal #3 Ensure data/evidence is collected to address 2016-2017 findings at the instruction level.

Annual Goals - 2017
Goal #1 Continue to expand full year clinical experience to secondary programs
Goal #2 Revise Technical Standards (disposition assessment) and submit for approval of the Teacher Education Council.
Goal #3 Reach to Teach program: Accept/enroll 6 students of color into teacher education programs.

Progress Toward Goals - 2017
Goal #1 Met: A practicum students from the Mathematics Department completed a full-year practicum during AY 2016-2017, 2017-2018; A practicum student from the English department completed a full-year practicum during AY 2017-2018
Goal #2 Partially Met: Technical Standards (Dispositional Assessments) were revised and discussed with recommendation for further revisions.
Goal #3 Partially Met: Reach to Teach - 10 students of color accepted into WSU Teacher Education Programs. 5 enrolled into the institution

Annual Goals - 2016
Goal #1 Expand full-year clinical experience to include secondary programs.
Goal #2 Increase LiveText membership from 61% to 80%.
Goal #3 Increase recruitment/acceptance of students of color from 4 acceptances to 8 acceptances into the Reach to Teach program.

Progress Toward Goals - 2016
Goal #1 Expand full year clinical experience to secondary programs: History (5-8, 8-12) Initial licensure candidates were enrolled in a full year clinical experience
Goal #2 Increase Live Text membership from 61% to 80%: Live Text membership is required by all teacher candidates. In order to increase communication about the membership, twice a semester Live Text messages are posted on the outdoor electronic signs and letters sent to teacher candidates home every summer from the Dean of Education office about licensure requirements includes Live Text membership information. As a result of these efforts we now have 80% of the teacher candidates taking key assessment courses and doing practicum with Live Text membership during AY 2016-2017
Goal #3 Increase recruitment/acceptance of students of color from 4 acceptances to 8 acceptances into the Reach To Teach program: As of 3/27/17 WSU admission's report on Reach to Teach, six students were accepted and 4 students were under review. Please note at the time of this report, information does not include the students who "deposited" to the university.
