Description of Admissions Requirements

Baccalaureate Programs:
Requirements for admission (provisional and full) to undergraduate licensure program.

Requirements for provisional admission include:
- A transcript which verifies that the candidate is in good academic standing and illustrates that the candidate will complete the requirements of her major and her education minor (excluding senior year courses) prior to the practicum.
- Two recommendations from college faculty
- A record of successful pre-practicum experiences
- A writing sample (including a letter of intent)
- Updated Field of Knowledge (FOK) form which illustrates that the candidate has a realistic plan for finishing all subject matter knowledge requirements prior to the practicum
- A passing score on the Communications & Literacy portion of the MTEL
- An interview with the Practicum Admissions Committee

Requirements for full admission include:
- A minimum grade of B in all related methods of education courses
- A passing score on all subject matter portions of the MTEL

Post-baccalaureate Programs:
Requirements for admission to MAT licensure programs
- A transcript that verifies that the candidate has completed a bachelor's degree and has a strong academic record.
- Coursework within the degree illustrating that the candidate has the subject matter knowledge required for the license sought
- Two recommendations from college faculty or other education professional which address academic knowledge and teaching potential.
- A writing sample (including a letter of intent)
- A passing score on all required MTEL for the license sought
- An interview with the Practicum Admissions Committee
- A minimum grade of B in all education courses
