Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2022
Goal #1 Continue developing departmental processes and practices that support a transition to all-electronic advising, as part of the comprehensive advising system.
Goal #2 Engage in continued efforts to develop a mission statement for the Education Department.
Goal #3 Drawing on foundational work in this area, create a system to collect, manage, analyze, and act on data from various sources including from stakeholders, partners, MCLA, and external sources. This system will be used to inform the MCLA Education Department's efforts to improve all aspects of our programs, including efforts to racially diversify our student body and to address issues of systemic bias and marginalization.

Annual Goals - 2021
Goal #1 Based on the successes and challenges of prior and current work in advising, continue to refine our comprehensive advising system for all candidates.
Goal #2 Write and publicize a mission statement and/or vision for the MCLA Education Department, drawing on the strategic vision of MCLA and the expertise of Education Department faculty and staff, and acknowledging the current state of affairs in schools.
Goal #3 Drawing on the expertise and experiences of faculty and staff, create a system to collect, manage, analyze, and act on data from various sources including from stakeholders, partners, MCLA, and external sources. This system will be used to inform the MCLA Education Department's efforts to improve all aspects of our programs, including efforts to racially diversify our student body and to address issues of systemic bias and marginalization.

Annual Goals - 2020
Goal #1 Continue the development of a robust, clear, and consistent online advising system for all licensure programs that leverages the existing tools available at MCLA (especially Canvas and DegreeWorks).
Goal #2 Work with a small group of Supervising Practitioners to pilot the use of the online OPTIC platform as the central piece of a training and support system.
Goal #3 Support the ongoing refinement of the mentoring and support systems for all new faculty, especially full-time faculty.
