Annual Goals

This report lists the annual improvement goals reported to ESE in the educator preparation program provider’s state annual report. Providers may report up to three goals for the upcoming year and are asked to report on progress made toward the prior year’s goals. Annual goals are reported in May of the academic year listed.

Annual Goals - 2020
Goal #1 Continue the development of a robust, clear, and consistent online advising system for all licensure programs that leverages the existing tools available at MCLA (especially Canvas and DegreeWorks).
Goal #2 Work with a small group of Supervising Practitioners to pilot the use of the online OPTIC platform as the central piece of a training and support system.
Goal #3 Support the ongoing refinement of the mentoring and support systems for all new faculty, especially full-time faculty.

Annual Goals - 2019
Goal #1 : Create and hire a new staff position to coordinate field-based experiences, in order to foster and support strong and mutually beneficial relationships between the Education Department (and its programs) and area educational agencies, resulting in high quality educator preparation
Goal #2 Create and hire a new staff position to coordinate department advising efforts, in order to develop and implement a comprehensive advising system (starting with prospective students and ending with career placement) for undergraduate and graduate Education students.
Goal #3 Conduct a thorough review and analysis of coursework required for candidates to ensure they meet all new Subject Matter Knowledge requirements, and recommend any changes deemed necessary.

Annual Goals - 2018
Goal #1 Working closely with Program Supervisors, Education Faculty will define and document Educator Dispositions, use this document to assess and guide candidate self-assessment of performance in FP1 and FP2 ensuring successful Student Teaching and early teaching experiences.
Goal #2 Using data gathered in Program Review, the Department will design and implement an Advisory Board model that increases engagement to better serve both Partners and MCLA. This model will expand membership to include Candidates and include agendas focused on the needs of Partners, Candidates, Field-Based experiences and impact on PreK-12 classrooms.
Goal #3 MCLA will increase enrollment and the number of diverse learners through the Summer 2019 launch of the 4+1 M.Ed. program and the 2018-2019 Greylock Teach Fellows cohort.
